This romance, inspired by the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, takes Romeo's mother as protagonist, Verona as stage and tragedy as goal: What Verona was like before Romeo and Juliet? And even more interesting, how the woman who raised the young Montague was? What woman loved Romeo before Juliet came up?
Much is known about the manipulative lady Capulet, the sweet mother of Juliet, but the English Bard gave us scarce clues about how Mrs. Montague was. Strong tracks, however, making clear that it was a character with a lot more potential than it's shown ... Perhaps this story will do justice. As the prologue to Romeo and Juliet says:
“THE FEARFUL PASSAGE OF THEIR DEATH-MARKED LOVE
IS NOW THE TWO HOURS’ TRAFFIC OF OUR STAGE;
THE WHICH IF YOU WITH PATIENT EARS ATTEND,
WHAT HERE SHALL MISS,
OUR TOIL SHALL STRIVE TO MEND”.
